Q:  Are B&Bs inspected by state, local or private organizations to ensure safety, cleanliness and quality?

Inspections of B&Bs by public health, fire and other safety-related departments depends upon the state and local municipalities.  Some states, for example like Illinois and Wisconsin, have state laws that set minimum standards for B&B operation.  Many cities and towns have local ordinances . However, this does not necessary mean that inspections are conducted.
